The question came up one day at church.
Are you loved first or do you love first?
I had only been a christian for a few months at this stage and was very blessed to have a fantastic pastor who
often asked questions to really get his people to think.
We lived on Phillip Island at the time, the pastor visited every week, we were only a small congregation, and he was based in Melbourne.
So do we first love? It really made me think. Do we? Or are we loved first?
When you were a baby, your parents provided you with food and shelter. You were sent to school (even though you hated it), you were given clothes and shoes. You were provided with everything you need to be comfortable. Were you shown Love though? Or was it just what parents are expected to do?
Every one experiences love differently and I totally understand that. We feel loved in many different ways. Some one feels loved if they are taken out to tea, or given flowers, other if something was done for them unexpectedly. Yet others if someone said something nice to them or complimented on their achievement.
But are you Loved First?
Well I have come to the conclusion that yes, we are loved first. God loves his people so much that he give his only Son to the world.
He wasn’t given to only those who loved first, He gave his Son to all.
God loves us so much that he provides all our needs, He gives us the wind, rain, sunlight, snow, flowers, trees, animals and everything on this earth.
He loves us first— we learn to love—- and we then show love to others.
So Love thy Neighbour (partner, children, parents) As God Loves You.
